SAN BERNARDINO (Oct. 9, 2016) — The Coyotes produced their greatest scoring output in seven seasons and the single-largest margin of victory in series history in a 6-0 win over Stanislaus State on Sunday afternoon at Coyote Premier Field.
Ivan Quintero scored two goals, and
Eric Lavery,
Hieu Ngo,
Axel Cruz and
Humberto Salcedo each had goals as CSUSB improved to 7-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 CCAA. The victory capped a weekend sweep in which the Coyotes earned a pair of shutouts.
Lavery connected on a free kick in the 20
th minute, and seven minutes later,
Hieu Ngo scored when he gathered a loose ball after a GK save and delivered the one-timer through for a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the second, Cruz gave CSUSB the 3-0 lead in the 50
th minute. After Salcedo scored on a give-and-go play, Quintero scored the first of two late, the first on a long pass from GK
Jacob Huber.
His second goal came in the 84
th minute.
Huber had five saves on the day. Quintero gathered two assists in addition to his two goals.
CSUSB, now 7-3-1 overall and 5-2-1, is idle until Oct. 21 when it faces Cal State Dominguez Hills at Carson's StubHub Center.
The Warriors fell to 1-7-3, 0-6.
