LeBaron Hollimon a 3-0 victory in the season opener over visiting Academy of Art in nonconference women's soccer Thursday afternoon.

Denae Verdine played a pivotal role on each of the three tallies, scoring the initial goal and handing out assists on the others. Senior F
Melanie Aguayo scored the other goals as CSUSB earned a season-opening win for the second straight season over the Urban Knights (0-1).
Verdine proved to be in the right place at the right time for her goal in the 5
th minute of play. AAU goalkeeper Morgan Wirz cleared the ball with a pass in front of the Urban Knights' box. Verdine placed herself between three defenders and got the ball for a quick strike and CSUSB led 1-0.
Roughly 30 minutes later, Aguayo broke from the outside and drove a shot from 25 yards out from the GK's left side with an assist from Verdine.
CSUSB took its 2-0 lead into the break and at the 56
th minute, Aguayo got the ball on a give-and-go from
Nicki Argentieri and Verdine for her second goal of the day.
The Coyotes dominated, delivering six corners to just one for AAU. They out-shot the Urban Knights 17-6 and Coyotes' GK
Emily Whyte had two saves on the day.
CSUSB takes its 1-0 record into Saturday's home contest against Dominican. Game time is 11 a.m.
