Box Score 2 SAN FRANCISCO (March 20, 2015) -- Sophomore RHP Cassandra Williams spun her second straight complete game shutout, this time a 2-hitter in the Coyotes' 5-0 victory over host San Francisco State in the first game of Friday's CCAA doubleheader.
Leading 1-0 through five innings, the Coyotes came alive in the sixth inning when they sent nine batters to the plate.
The Coyotes worked themselves into a bases-loaded, no-out inning with junior Melissa Roberts at the plate. She delivered a single to right that scored Alyssa Ramos (walk). One batter later, freshman Kaylee Gemmell reached on a bases-loaded hit by a pitch for the body-clenching RBI. Thalia Ortiz then followed with an RBI on a fielder's choice and the Coyotes led 4-0.
Two batters later, Arianna Hernandez secured the fifth run on an error by the third baseman that scored Gemmell.
Williams (11-7), this week's CCAA Pitcher of the Week, was outstanding in her seven innings. She had five strikeouts wtih three walks and just two hits. She faced just 10 batters over her final three innings.
Victoria Lievanos and Williams each had two hits.
In the second game, the Coyotes collected 15 hits, and led by Alyssa Ramos' 3-for-5 game with three RBI, defeated the Gators 7-4.
Down 2-1 through one inning, the Coyotes struck back with four runs and sent nine batters to the plate and never looked back.
Ashley Leffingwell led off the inning with a double, and Brianna Quintana had an RBI-single. Ramos capped the inning with a two-run double and Williams later added a run-scoring single.
Quintana was 2-for-4 for the game and added another RBI in the third.
Ramos came through with her third RBI with a double that drove in Nobbe in the sixth.
Nobbe and Leffingwell each had two doubles.
Freshman RHP Jamie Nelson went the distance and improved to 5-6. She had two strikeouts and scattered eight hits.
The Coyotes improved to 16-14 overall and 8-9 in the CCAA, while the Gators dropped to 5-18, 2-15.
