Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 8, 2015) -- A well-rounded effort by a host of Coyotes paid off handsomely in Sunday's 5-4 victory over host Holy Names at Fiscalini Field.
The victory snapped the Coyotes' four-game losing streak and they will take a 1-4 record into this week's series with Point Loma. The Coyotes play in San Diego on Thursday and Friday and return to Fiscalini on Saturday with an 11 a.m. doubleheader.
Sophomore Damion Edmonds had three hits with a double and William Ouellette had two RBI. Aaron Owen clubbed a solo home run and had two hits, while Warren Fishback had a double.
On the mound, Ruben Rios threw two innings of relief and got the victory and junior LHP Daniel Diaz retired the Hawks (5-2) in order in the ninth for his first save.
Down 2-0 in the third, Ouellette drove in the Coyotes' first run on a sacrifice fly to left that scored Kevin Meriwether, who walked.
The Hawks got another run in the fourth, but CSUSB answered with two in the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. Ouellette drove in Edmonds on an infield ground out, and one batter later, Owen ripped a shot to deep left for his first homer of the season.
CSUSB took the lead for the first time when Grant Buchanan grounded out on a double play that brought in Meriwether, who reached on a single and advanced to third on a two-base error by the left fielder.
Holy Names got one back in the eighth to tie at 4-4, but the Coyotes would not be denied. In the eighth, Owen scored on a rundown after leading off with a double to left.
Dustin Zeisler had two hits and three RBI for the Hawks. Austin Wood had two hits.
