Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 6, 2015) -- The Coyotes faced a five-run deficit early in their game against visiting Holy Names and lost 10-5 in nonconference play Friday night at Fiscalini Field.

William Ouellette led the Coyotes, now 0-2 overall, with two hits and
Jon-Paolo D'Este added a solo home run.

Coyotes RHP Taylor Sloan started off in command, striking out four in 2 1/3 innings. But the Hawks (3-1) sent 10 batters to the plate in the third inning, scoring five runs on five hits never let go of the lead.

HNU added solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings for a 7-1 lead.

CSUSB got two runs back in the sixth.
Andrew Lopez hit a single that hit the Hawks pitcher and bounced in the gap between first and second. That scored
Aaron Owen, who led off the inning with a walk.

Two batters later, pinch-hitter
Jose Hernandez drove in Ouellette on a fielder's choice and CSUSB trailed 7-3.

CSUSDB added another solo run, this time in the eighth on a
Kevin Meriwether double to right center that brought in Owen, who led of with a double to left.

HNU put the game out of reach, though, with a three-run ninth for a 10-4 lead.

D'Este then hit a two-out, solo shot to deep left for the final margin.

Senior reliever
Ruben Rios threw 4 1/3 innings after Sloan and struck out three without a walk. He allowed two runs -- both earned.

Junior LHP
Daniel Diaz struck out two in 1 1/3 inning with one hit.

The Hawks had 14 hits and were led by Zach Verlaan and Dominic Morbidellli, who both had three hits. Verlaan had three RBI and Morbidelli homered in the fifth. Benjamin Gamba had two RBI wiht two hits.
