Box Score SAN RAFAEL (Sept. 6, 2014) -- Goals came in bunches for the 17th-ranked Coyotes on Saturday afternoon with three goals on their first four shots in a 5-1 blowout victory over host Dominican University in nonconference women's soccer.
Kiana Quarles scored two goals, and Katie Gagner and Susan Ibarra each had one and CSUSB added an own goal for the now 2-0 Coyotes.
"We were very good today in the final third of the field and I think that was the difference,'' Coyotes coach Travis Clarke said. "Jasmine Williams played with a lot of energy up front and Kiana and Katie made the most of their chances. We were good for extended periods of time at holding the ball and finding openings to move forward.''
Quarles found the net off a rebound to the bottom right corner of the net in just the 3rd minute of play. Ten minutes later, Williams assisted on Gagner's goal, then Gagner found Quarles at the 23rd minute on a cross from left to right.
Dominican scored on a PK in the first period, but CSUSB got one back on an own goal and it led at halftime, 4-1.
Ibarra scored her goal in the 85th minute unassisted, thanks to a shot off a rebound.
The Coyotes' goalkeeper team of Emily Whyte and Monique Boe helped keep Dominican in check with just six saves on seven SOG.
CSUSB returns to Coyote Premier Field for the first time this season on Thursday when it takes on La Verne.
