Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Oct. 24, 2014) -- Cal State San Bernardino tied its school record for most victories in a season in a 4-1 victory over visiting Cal State Monterey Bay in CCAA women's soccer Friday afternoon.
CSUSB improved to 13-3 overall and 6-3 CCAA. Its 13 victories ties the mark held by the 1992 team that went 13-6-1. The Coyotes will have two more opportunties to establish a record during the regular season. They'll face San Francisco State on Sunday and are at Chico State on Thursday.
Paige Kang,
Jasmine Williams,
Peyton Nocciolo and
Kiana Quarles all scored goals in the Coyotes' best offensive output in CCAA play, surpassing their goal output of six in their first eight games.
Defense has been a stronghold of the Coyotes all season long and that didn't change against the Otters as they held their foe to without a shot in the second half.
Kang gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute off a throw-in play with
Jessica Koch earning a assist. Williams got the ball and Kang got the ball to go in.
Williams padded the lead almost nine minutres later when she received the ball from
Melanie Aguayo. The Pasadena native forced the Otters' GK to come out and she laced the ball in on the keeper's left side.
CSUMB scored its only goal of the game when Jami Murray drilled a shot from 45 yards out. The ball hit the post and crossed the goal line.
Nocciolo and Quarles both scored their goals in the second half.
CSUSB will honor its five seniors --
Kelly Keyes,
Emily Mardon,
Jillian Seminara,
Sierra Van Meter and
Jasmine Williams -- during a pregame ceremony Sunday.
