The Coyotes improved to 12-3 overall, 5-3 CCAA and became just the fifth team in school history to record at least 12 wins in a season. They will have three more tries in the regular season to tie and surpass the record of 13 established in 1992 (13-6-1 record).
CSUSB broke through the scoring column in the 20th minute of play. Sophomore
Kiana Quarles broke through midfield on the left-side of the goal keeper and found a wide open
Melanie Aguayo.
She controlled the ball, then went 1-on-1 against CSUEB GK Selena Braun from about 5 yards for the game's only goal.
CSUSB dominated the game with 10 shots and seven SOGs, compared to the Pioneers' five shots and only three SOGs.
"We overcame some of the fatigue from Friday's game against Cal State Stanislaus and found a way to create some scoring opportunities,'' coach
Travis Clarke said. "Our defense held up strong for another shutout.''
Quarles finished with six shots, four SOGs and no other Coyote had more than one.
CSUEB dropped to 5-8-2, 2-6.
