SAN BERNARDINO – A four-game losing streak came to a screeching halt Saturday night as the Coyotes defeated visiting Cal State Monterey Bay 47-46 in CCAA women's basketball at Coussoulis Arena.

The win pushed the Coyotes to a 2-8 overall record and was their first win in CCAA play in seven contests.

Sophomore Alexcia Mack gave the Coyotes the lead for good at 47-45 when she pulled up for a 17-foot jump shot with 1:05 remaining and only two seconds on the shot clock.

The Coyotes had a foul to give and then the Otters' Holly Holcomb drew a foul from CSUSB's Adriana Brodie with 37 seconds left for a chance to tie the game.

She hit the front end of a one-and-one, but the second shot was off and CSUSB controlled the ball.

CSUSB worked the clock and Tayllor Gipson attempted a shot in the lane, but it was off and the Otters got the rebound and called time with six and a half seconds left.

After the timeout, CSUMB needed to go the length of the court and it had a chance for the win, but Angelique Bailey's drive and shot inside with two seconds was off and time ran out.

Mack led the Coyotes with 15 points and Gipson was right behind with 13. Junior guard Briana Baker and sophomore Adriana Brodie each had nine points with Brodie grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds.

The Coyotes got all but one point from four of their starters; the other was a free throw from senior Trinidee Trice.

CSUSB established itself in the second half as it never trailed. However, there were four ties in the final 20 minutes, the last from CSUMB's Ashley Morgan, who drained a 3-pointer that put the score at 45-45 with 2:10 remaining.

Jenna Bandy led in scoring for CSUMB with a game-high 17 points off the bench. Morgan had eight with two 3-pointers.

The game was a homecoming for Coyotes first-year coach Renee Jimenez, who spent the previous five seasons at CSUMB. The two teams play their rematch on Feb. 15 in Seaside and the nation will be watching as it is the CBS Sports Network Division II Game of the Week.

The Otters fell to 3-7, 0-7.
