Coyotes, Tritons finish at 1-1 draw

Koch scores first collegiate goal for CSUSB

Jessica Koch scored on her only shot attempt Sunday.
Box Score | SAN BERNARDINO – Freshman Jessica Koch blistered a shot from 30 yards out and the Coyotes held on for 1-1 draw against visiting UC San Diego in CCAA women's soccer Sunday at Premier Field.

CSUSB (4-2-1 overall, 2-1-1 CCAA) picked up four points on the weekend with Friday's 2-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona. The Coyotes return to the road for the next three weeks, beginning with Friday's contest at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The Coyotes got off to a rough start. Only 24 seconds ticked off the clock before the Tritons struck with their only goal of the day. On a feed from Izzy Pozurama, Jamie Benedetto got a breakaway goal on the left side and went wide past Coyotes' GK Chelsey Jones' left hand for the quick goal and lead.

But Koch's goal was equally impressive as she strode down the right side from 30 yards out and hammered a shot past the Tritons' Kelcie Brodsky in the 23rd minute.

CSUSB out-shot the Tritons 12-7 in regulation and each team had three shots in the overtime periods.

Brodsky made two saves in the second OT – both from junior Kelly Keyes.

UCSD (3-1-2, 2-0-2) had a shot for the game-winning goal, but Kylene Hill's shot hit the top post in the 106th minute.

Sophomore Melanie Aguayo also had two SOG for the Coyotes, who had five corner kicks, including one in the second OT.

Jones had three saves in 110 minutes.
