Little bit of defense, and a lot of Kang spells victory

Coyotes defeat Cal State East Bay, 1-0

Paige Kang's header was the difference maker in Sunday's 1-0 win over CSUEB.
Box Score HAYWARD -- Senior goalkeeper Chelsey Jones earned her third shutout victory of the season and freshman Paige Kang scored her first collegiate goal in the Coyotes' 1-0 win over host Cal State East Bay in CCAA women's soccer Sunday afternoon.

The Coyotes take a 3-2 overall record and 1-1 CCAA slate into Friday's home opener against Cal Poly Pomona. Kick off is 3:00 p.m.

Senior Carissa Kutkowski fired in a cross and Kang headed the ball past Pioneers' GK Donna Williams in the 21st minute for the lead.

That was all Jones and company needed as the Hesperia native had three saves on the day -- all in the second half.

The Coyotes had just two shots on goal -- the other from freshman Kiana Quarles, some three minutes before Kang's shot.

Freshman Jessica Koch had the only other shot for CSUSB.
