LA JOLLA -- Coach Renee Jimenez and her Coyotes shook aside a four-game losing streak in impressive fashion, leading the entire game in Saturday's 60-52 victory over nonconference Metro State in the second and final day of play at the UC San Diego Tournament.

Sophomore Alexcia Mack stepped up with a season-high 17 points in 40 minutes with four rebounds and five steals, and senior all-tournament selectionTayllor Gipson added 15 with four assists in a complete-game victory over the Roadrunners.

Balanced efforts played an integral role as five Coyotes scored at least seven points and five had at least one steal.

The Coyotes (1-4, 0-2 CCAA) set the tone early against their foe, jumping out to a 7-0 lead just two minutes into the game -- thanks to a jumper from Gipson, a 3-pointer from Jenna Klein and another jumper from Adriana Brodie.

And what had to please Jimenez was how her team responded when the Roadrunners made their only run of the night.

After the Coyotes grabbed a 31-23 after Jazzmyn Davis' layup with 2:29 remaining in the opening half, the Roadrunners closed to within a point (31-30) on a layup from Fawn Brady with 14 seconds left.

In the waning seconds, freshman Tatiana Dunlap hit two free throws to help the Coyotes go into the break ahead 33-30.

Then, CSUSB never let up in the second half, leading by double digits through most of the final 16 minutes, helped by a 15-2 run and CSUSB up 51-34 with 12:01 left.

The Coyotes finished with just 11 turnovers on the night and forced their opponent into 22 miscues that resulted into 18 CSUSB points.

Brodie finished with nine points and four rebounds, Davis eight points with four boards and Klein seven points and three rebounds.

Dunlap led the Coyotes with seven rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.

Cassie Lambrecht led the Roadrunners (1-3) with 15 points.

CSUSB is off until Saturday when it plays at Humboldt State.
