Battle of two top-25 teams ends in 1-1 tie between Coyotes and UCSD

Wilding scores Coyotes' only goal

Senior Kelsey Gudgeon assisted Brittany Wilding's goal in the 1-1 tie against No. 5 UCSD.
SAN BERNARDINO -- No. 19 Cal State San Bernardino bounced back from a disappointing Friday night loss with a 1-1 double OT tie against visiting fifth-ranked UC San Diego on Sunday at Coyote Premier Field.

The Coyotes, now 2-1-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCAA, will face Cal Poly Pomona on the road Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

Brittany Wilding gave the Coyotes a 1-0 lead in the game's 22nd minute. Teammate Kelsey Gudgeon fired in a cross from the right-hand side and Wilding pounced on the ball and drove it past Tritons GK Kristin Armstrong for the lead.

The teams went into halftime with CSUSB leading, but the Tritons tied the game on Cassie Callahan's first goal of the season at 49:24. She belted the ball from 30 yards out straight of the net and got past Coyotes' GK Tiffany Mallick.

The game remained tied through regulation. In OT, UCSD outshot the Coyotes 4-1, but neither team could answer.

Mallick finished with three saves and Armstrong had four on the day.

All five Coyotes' shots were SOG.

Wilding and freshman Kelly Keyes each had two SOGs.
