LOS ANGELES – Cal State San Bernardino suffered a pair of hard-luck losses Sunday, losing both games of a doubleheader in walk-off fashion against Cal State L.A.
In the opener, Noe Flores' run-scoring double in the ninth scored Chad Nacapoy as the host Golden Eagles won 3-2.
Junior RHP
Aaron Brooks took the loss. He struck out seven and did not issue a walk in 8 1/3 innings. In his past two games, Brooks has struck out 16 batters and has not allowed a walk.
The Coyotes took a 1-0 lead in the third on
Mike Newell's single to short that scored
Matt Haney, who doubled. CSULA tied the game in its half of the third on Joe Park's leadoff home run.
CSULA added another run in the fourth, but the Coyotes responded in the fifth on Haney's home run to right.
Haney had the only extra-base hits for the Coyotes, who stranded six runners on base.
In the second game that was scheduled to go seven innings, the game ended on Daniel Duran's two-out single off Coyotes' reliever
Trevor Longfellow in the 10th as CSULA won 2-1.
Down 1-0 after five innings, the Coyotes tied the game in the seventh.
Erik Ornelas hit a one-out single that scored
Bryce Holland after an error in right field.

Casey McCarthy scattered seven hits in six innings. He had six strikeouts with just one walk. Relievers
Josh Lee and
Josh Pond combined to throw three innings of shut-out relief.
The Coyotes, 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the CCAA, return to Fiscalini Field when they play host to NAIA-member CSU San Marcos on Saturday in a nine-inning game.
