RIVERSIDE -- Senior
Angela Streets scored a game-high 19 points as Cal State San Bernardino won its season opener 54-31 over La Sierra in nonconference women's basketball Thursday night.
The Coyotes were strong defensively, holding La Sierra to just nine field goals and a 24.3 percent effort from the field on nine of 37 shots.
The Coyotes grabbed a 31-17 halftime lead and kept the pressure on. They forced 32 La Sierra turnovers, despite turning the ball over 21 times themselves.
Streets was four of nine from the field and hit 9 of 10 free throws. She also had five rebounds.
Junior
Kristen Huffman led the Coyotes off the glass with nine rebounds.
Jessica Dela Cruz had seven points adn Huffman and
Kenisha McKee each had six.
CSUSB is off until Nov. 25 when it takes on Fort Lewis College in the UC San Diego Tritons Tourney.
Natalia Hawthorne had eights points in a losing effort.
