SAN BERNARDINO
-- Senior Katie Liby played the game of her final season with Cal State San Bernardino and Coyotes' leading goal scorer Jani Caramona scored her 12th goal of the season as the host Coyotes won decisively against Cal State East Bay 5-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play Friday afternoon.

CSUSB won its fourth consecutive game and improved to 9-5-1 overall and 7-5-1 in the CCAA heading into Sunday's game against UC San Diego. The Pioneers dropped to 6-7-3, 4-7-2.

In the opening 17 minutes of play, Liby used her leg and her head to put the Coyotes out front 3-1. She gave CSUSB a quick 1-0 lead just three minutes in when she received the ball from Kristina Gomez. Liby placed herself on the right side of the net and popped a shot past Pioneers GK Nina Cefalo's left side.

The lead was shortlived, however, as the Pioneers tied the game just two minutes later on Michelle Quintero's tally.

Jenna Sanchez gave CSUSB the lead for good at the 10-minute mark. Kelsey Gudgeon delivered on a corner kick and Sanchez got up close and fired the ball in.

Liby earned her second goal of the day and her third of the season when Gudgeon's free kick was inside the box and the Redlands native made the Pioneers pay.

Liby earned an assist on a feed to Carmona early in the second half and Jamie Council scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Carmona at the 74-minute mark and CSUSB led, 5-1.

The Pioneers' Jennifer Lu finished the scoring on the day wtih a goal two minutes after Council.

The Coyotes were opportunistic all day as they out-shot their foe 19-8.

Tiffany Mallick picked up the win for CSUSB and improved to 8-5-1.

Sunday afternoon marks the final regular-season home game for five Coyotes -- Liby, Anne-Marie Taharamanis, Sanchez, Unity Beddingfield and Korianne Massuere. They will be honored in a ceremony before their team faces UC San Diego. Kick off is 11:30 a.m.
