Sonoma State continued its domination of Cal State San Bernardino Sunday, pounding out 18 hits en route to a 9-4 victory over the Coyotes and a sweep of their four-game baseball series at Arrowhead Credit Union Park.
The Seawolves left town with a 21-1 record, 10-0 in the CCAA, while the Coyotes continued a free-fall toward the bottom of the conference standings, ending the weekend with an overall record of 10-12 but only 2-9 in the CCAA. CSUSB is just 5-10 at home so far in 2008.
Kevin Asselin went eight innings for this third win of the season, giving up four runs, but only one was earned. Cameron Cook went four-for-five with four RBI for the Seawolves and Mark Pestorich was two-for-five with a home run.
Johnnie Haas had a pair of hits in the six-hit Coyotes attack.
Sonoma jumped on Coyotes starter
Kevin Wilson for eight runs, five of them earned on 13 hits in 4.2 innings. It could have been worse. The Seawolves stranded 11 runners.
The Coyotes will try and turn things around this week, playing a four-game series with Cal Poly Pomona, another struggling ball club in the CCAA. The two teams will meet at Arrowhead Credit Union Park for single games on Thursday and Friday at 2 p.m., then play a doubleheader on Saturday at the Broncos field.
