Krista Feer and sophomore
Lynne Castillo scored goals in the final two minutes of regulation to give Cal State San Bernardino a 3-3 tie with Cal State San Marcos in a non-conference match that ended with the same score after two overtimes.
The tie gives CSUSB an 8-6-3 record while the Cougars are now 6-6-3.
San Marcos jumped on the hosts early, going up 2-0 in the first 17 minutes on goals by Lucia Asbury and Taylor Ziencina off assists by Katelyn Krauss and Courtney Drummond.
Feer scored her first goal of the match off a crossing pass into the box in the 27th minute to make it 2-1 Cougars. Less than a minute later, a Cougars shot was accidentally headed into the Coyotes net by a CSUSB defender for an own goal to make it 3-1.
CSUSB's defense tightened up and held the visitors scoreless for the rest of the match, but needed a rescue job from Feer, who scored her second goal of the match at 88:12 on a header off a free kick. Then, with 13 seconds left in the second half, Castillo scored her first goal of the season off a rebound of a shot by
Lisa Montgomery to tie the match and force the overtime.
Montgomery and
Ashley Haagsma were credited with assists.
Laura Lyons and
Leslie Rhodes split time in goal and saved three shots between them.
