VISTA, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team opened its spring season on Monday with rounds one and two of the Fujikura Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos at Shadowridge Golf Club.
Junior
Kamron Hopson (Redlands, Calif.) got his spring off to a strong start with an opening round 68. Hopson started on hole 10 and shot a bogey-free 33 on the back nine before a front nine 35 to finish at four over. Junior
Marco Lin (Taoyuan, Taiwan) was even par in the opening round for the Coyotes with a 72.
Sophomores
Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) and
Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) rounded out the opening round scorers for the Coyotes with a 74 and a 78 respectively.
CSUSB really turned it on in the afternoon session, shooting three-under par as a team to climb the leaderboard.
Lin was the top Coyote finisher, shooting four-under par to move into second on the individual leaderboard. He made five consecutive birdies on the back nine and shot a 30 before making the turn.
Price and Parayno were both one-under in round two. The top three Yotes in round two combined for just one bogey on the back nine, going eight-under.
Hopson rounded out the scorers at three-over.
Cal State San Bernardino will be back in action to wrap up the Fujikura Invitational on Tuesday. The shotgun start is slated for 8:30 a.m.
