IRVINE, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino softball team split a non-conference doubleheader Saturday against Concordia University Irvine at Golden Eagle Stadium.
CSUSB opened the day with a 3-1 win, before dropping the day's second game by a final of 8-1.
With the results, the Coyotes move to 6-6 overall on the season.
Because the game was originally scheduled to be played at Cal State San Bernardino, the Coyotes were the designated home team and batted second in each game.

Game 1: Cal State San Bernardino 3, CUI 1
The Coyotes fell behind early in game one on a second inning sacrifice fly, but answered back with a pair in the bottom of the third. Sophomore Iliana Mejia (Beaumont, Calif.) leveled the score with an RBI infield single, before senior Brooke Brazill (Clovis, Calif.) put the Yotes on top with a base hit to center field.
The game remained 2-1 until the bottom of the sixth, when redshirt sophomore Tara Skinner (Menifee, Calif.) gave the Coyotes a key insurance run when she plated Brazill with a base hit to center field, stretching CSUSB's lead to 3-1.
Coyote ace Ashley Legler (San Diego, Calif.) set the Golden Eagles down in order in the top of the seventh to secure her fourth win of the season in the circle. She went the distance in the win, allowing just the one earned run on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Brazill and Mejia each had a pair of hits for the Coyotes, as well as a run scored and an RBI each. The rest of the team combined for just one hit, Skinner's pinch hit RBI single.
