SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's basketball fell to Cal State East Bay 76–71 Saturday afternoon at Coussoulis Arena.

With the loss, the Coyotes move to 8–11 overall and 6–8 in CCAA play.

CSUSB opened the game with strong defensive energy and transition offense. Jaushlynn Ruffin (Compton, Calif.) scored four early points in the opening quarter, including a fast-break layup, while Princess Cassell (Eastvale, Calif.) knocked down a three-pointer off a turnover to give the Coyotes momentum late in the period. CSUSB forced multiple turnovers and took a 14–12 lead into the second quarter.

The Pioneers responded in the second quarter with an extended run at the free-throw line. Despite Paisley Specht (Sacramento, Calif.) hitting a three-pointer and Arianna Harper (Los Angeles, Calif.) adding a transition bucket, East Bay outscored CSUSB 24–14 in the period to take a 36–28 lead into halftime.

CSUSB regrouped coming out of the break and put together its strongest stretch of the game in the third quarter. Ruffin scored six points in the period, including back-to-back baskets in the paint to briefly give the Coyotes the lead. Citlali Salazar (Los Angeles, Calif.) added a steal and layup during a 9–0 run, as CSUSB outscored East Bay 19–16 and cut the deficit to 52–47 heading into the final frame.

The Coyotes continued to fight in the fourth quarter, matching East Bay with 24 points. Cassell scored eight points in the period, including a three-pointer with 33 seconds remaining, while freshman Nevaeh Lemons (Los Angeles, Calif.) knocked down a late triple and Harper converted a fast-break layup to keep CSUSB within reach. However, East Bay sealed the game at the free-throw line to secure the 76–71 decision.
