Baseball Commences 2026 Season on Friday

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino baseball season is fast approaching. CSUSB is coming off a 29-21 season, finishing 21-19 in CCAA play. The Yotes had a strong season on offense, setting program records in batting average (.338) and on-base percentage (.437).

The Coyotes begin the season on January 30 when they host Montana State-Billings for a four-game series concluding on February 1.

Senior Jeremy Giesegh (Upland, Calif.), who hit .383 with 10 home runs and 43 runs batted in and was named a Second Team All-CCAA selection, will be one of their top bats for the season.

Junior Ivan Rodriguez (San Bernardino, Calif.) will be one of the Coyotes' top arms, finishing the 2025 season with a 5-2 record, including three wins in which he pitched at least seven innings while allowing no more than two earned runs.

Among the top newcomers for the Coyotes this season is redshirt junior Derek Hurtado (Murrieta, Calif.), who slashed .350/.559/.507 to go along with 24 stolen bases and was an Inland Empire Athletic Conference Gold Glove recipient at Mount San Jacinto College.

Conference play begins March 6 when Cal Poly Pomona comes to town for a four-game tilt.

From March 27 to 29, they will face off against Utah Valley University, which qualified for the Division I NCAA Baseball Tournament last season.

CSUSB will close the regular season on the road when it faces Cal State Dominguez Hills from April 30 to May 2.

The following weekend, from May 6 through May 9, is the CCAA Tournament hosted by Cal State San Bernardino at Fiscalini Field, where the top six teams will qualify.

Should they qualify, the baseball team will participate in the West Regional, which will take place from May 14 to 16, with the Super Regionals taking place the following week from May 21 to 22. The College World Series will take place from May 29 to June 6 in Cary, North Carolina, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
