Women's Volleyball Takes Down Cal State Dominguez Hills

CARSON, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's volleyball team took down Cal State Dominguez Hills in straight sets on Saturday evening in CCAA action at the Torodome. Set scores were 25-22, 25-15, and 25-23.

With the win, the Yotes move to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in CCAA play.

The first set was extremely tight, featuring 10 ties and six lead changes, but eventually it was the Coyotes that came out on top. CSUSB did not have their strongest set offensively, swinging just .100, but four kills from junior Kacie Pedersen (Riverside, Calif.) helped lift the Yotes to the win.

The second set was all CSUSB, as the visitors used a 12-5 run down the stretch, including a 5-0 run to clinch the set, to take the commanding 2-0 lead. CSUSB had an attack percentage of .316, and Petersen, Kisa Sagiao (San Diego, Calif.), and Charli Blackman (Auckland, New Zealand) each had three second set kills to lift CSUSB.

An impressive.400 attack percentage in the third set helped CSUSB clinch the sweep. Pedersen had six kills without an error, while Blackman had four kills without an error to combine to hit .625 for the set. Despite the tight 25-23 scoreline, the Yotes went wire-to-wire, as the set featured two ties and zero lead changes.

Pedersen was the only Coyote in double figures in kills with a match-high 13, while Blackman was stellar with seven kills and no errors on eight attempts. Sagiao also had seven kills.

Defensively, libero Jayden Chornomud (Canyon Lake, Calif.) led the way with 15 digs, while Pedersen completed her double-double with 10 digs.

Next up for CSUSB, they will take on their rivals from Cal State Los Angeles on the road on Friday evening. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
