SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's soccer team played Biola University to a 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Premier Field.
With the win, the Coyotes move to 1-2-1 overall on the season.
CSUSB scored first in the 31st minute on the first collegiate goal from sophomore Angelyn Pena (Los Angeles, Calif.). After an Alyssa Vernon (Hesperia, Calif.) shot was blocked down, Pena hopped on the rebound and guided it low to the bottom right corner of the net to put the Yotes up 1-0.
Less than five minutes later, CSUSB extended its lead to two, when senior Emilee Perez (Corona, Calif.) cleaned up a Mila Bettinelli (Sebastopol, Calif.) rebound for her first goal of the season.
The Yotes took their two-goal lead into the locker room after heavily controlling the play in the opening 45. They held an 8-2 edge in shots, and had 68 percent of the possession.Â
The Eagles rebounded with two goals in less than two and a half minutes early in the second half to level the score.
The teams played the remaining 27 minutes of the game in a deadlock, but neither team was able to find the winner, and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
In goal, Coyote junior Ryann Munoz (Wrightwood, Calif.) made three saves to earn the draw.
Next, the Yotes will travel to Colorado for a pair of contests next weekend, starting with a match at Western Colorado on Friday. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. Pacific.
