SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's soccer season is coming up with the opener coming on September 4 at Point Loma and the home opener taking place on September 13 versus Concordia University Irvine.
Sophomore Rafa Fonseca (Fontana, Calif.) is the Coyotes' leading returning goal scorer, notching four goals a season ago. Anthony Morales (Orange, Calif.) is the only other returner who scored multiple goals last season. Additionally, Tony Negrete (Hawaiian Gardens, Calif.), who scored five goals for the 2023 team that advanced to the CCAA Tournament, also returns after sitting out 2024.
Donovan Palomares (Boyle Heights, Calif.), who redshirted last season after two seasons at El Camino College where he was named a United Soccer Coaches Division III Second Team All-American is expected to be the starting goalkeeper.
The Coyotes bring many transfers with Division I experience, highlighted by Kenneth Livernois (Torrance, Calif.) a transfer from UC Davis who made 12 starts for the Aggies in 2023 for a team that posted a winning record and Alix Soukup (Canoga Park, Calif.) a transfer from fellow Big West program Cal State Fullerton.
In addition to key transfers, freshman Diego Lopez (Los Angeles, Calif.), who previously played for the LA Galaxy Academy team, should expect to get key playing time.
CSUSB is looking to return to the CCAA Tournament for the first time since 2023 with the first round starting on November 9 with games at the home of the higher seed. The semifinal and final rounds will take place at Cal State Monterey Bay on November 14 and 16.
All CCAA games will be streamed live on FloCollege with a majority of home games featuring commentary in English and Spanish.
