SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's soccer season is fast approaching, with the regular season opener coming on September 4 with a home match against Vanguard University.
CSUSB is coming off a 5-6-6 season with a 4-4-3 mark in conference play, narrowly missing the CCAA Conference Tournament. They have quite a few players back from their core lineup led by 2024 First-Team All-CCAA selection Bella Cervantes (Anaheim, Calif.), Mitzali Macias (Eastvale, Calif.), who led the team in minutes in 2024 as well as nine additional returners who made at least five starts last season.
In addition to the returners, the Coyotes have brought in a number of notable transfers, notably . Mila Bettinelli (Sebastopol, Calif.) , a Division I transfer from Tarleton State University in Texas, and Junior Raylene Alcaraz (Riverside, Calif.) a transfer from Division II Montevallo. In 34 career games at Tarleton, Bettinelli scored 11 goals, including a team-high eight goals during her freshman season. Alcaraz recorded six assists this past season and was part of a Montevallo team that went all the way to the Division II South Regional final last season.
In addition to Bettinelli and Alcaraz, the Coyotes have a handful of transfers from the junior college level who are expected to be key contributors. Angela Morales (Montclair, Calif.) is a transfer from Norco College who was named to the All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference First Team, while Sydney Trump (Long Beach, Calif.) scored eight goals and was also named first-team All-Conference for South Coast Conference-South regular season champions Long Beach City College.
CSUSB is looking to return to the CCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016, which kicks off on November 9 with games at the home of the higher seed followed by the semifinals and finals at Cal State Monterey Bay on November 14 and 16.
All CCAA contests will be streamed live on FloCollege, with a majority of home games featuring commentary in English and Spanish.
