GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The California State University San Bernardino men's golf team is in fourth place after two rounds at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic, played Monday at Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Coyotes finished the first round at -5 as a team and -8 in the second round, bringing their overall score to -13 for the tournament.
Senior John Kim (Palm Desert, Calif.) led the team with a solid performance, shooting a one-under 71 in the first round and a six-under 66 in the second round. Kim sits in fifth place at seven-under par, impressively not recording a single bogey in his second round.
Freshman Aaron Parayno (Fresno, Calif.) shot an impressive five-under 67 in the opening round. Despite a two-over 74 in the second round, he currently sits in a tie for 19th place. His first-round performance included four birdies, an eagle, and just one bogey. Junior Chris Wardrup (La Quinta, Calif.) recorded two rounds of 71 to sit at -2 for the tournament.Â
Freshman Tyler Price (Yucaipa, Calif.) posted a three-over 75 in the first round but bounced back with a solid two-under 70 in the second round, while graduate student Jetty Sivongsay (Fullerton, Calif.) carded a two-over 74 in the first round and an even-par 72 in the second round.
Junior Trent Fitzgerald (Santee, Calif.), competing as an individual, shot a one-under 71 in both rounds to finish at -2.
The final round of the RJGA Palm Valley Classic will tee-off Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
