SAN MARCOS Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino softball team was swept in their doubleheader against the Cal State San Marcos Cougars on Saturday afternoon at the CSUSM Softball Field.Â
With the losses, the Coyotes fall to 20-24 with a 12-16 record in CCAA play.

Game 1 - Cal State San Marcos 6, CSUSB 2
Cal State San Marcos jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
CSUSB answered in the top of the third, starting with a single from Emilie Lapeña (Buena Park, Calif.). Tereise Tosi (Garden Grove, Calif.) followed with a two-run home run to tie the game at 2-2.
In the fourth inning, the Coyotes loaded the bases after freshman Iliana Mejia (Beaumont, Calif.) singled, graduate student Shannon Galliano (San Mateo, Calif.) drew a walk, and Lapeña singled again. However, CSUSB was unable to score during the inning.
Later in the inning, the Yotes once again loaded the bases with two outs. Senior Lindsey Marschall (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and junior Alex Hooper (Auburn, Calif.) each singled, while junior Sarah Moite (Fresno, Calif.) reached on an error. Despite the opportunity, the Coyotes could not capitalize.
The Cougars regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth and added three more in the sixth to secure a 6-2 win.

Game 2 – Cal State San Marcos 5, CSUSB 1
CSUSB came out strong in the top of the first inning, stringing together three consecutive singles by Galliano, Lapeña, and Tosi. Tosi's base hit drove in Galliano to give the Yotes an early 1-0 lead.
Cal State San Marcos responded quickly, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first - an offensive burst that proved to be all they needed.
Although CSUSB outhit the Cougars 7-6, they were unable to score any more runs.
Up next, the Coyotes head home for their final home series of the season starting on Friday against Cal Poly Humboldt. First pitch of Game 1 is set for 1 p.m.
