Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino softball team split a pair of contests Saturday on day two of the Concordia Kickoff Classic at Great Park.
CSUSB took down Colorado State Pueblo 7-4 in the first game of the afternoon, before falling to Dominican 8-6 in extra innings in game two
With the split, CSUSB moves to 2-2 overall on the season.

Game 1 - Cal State San Bernardino 7, Colorado State Pueblo 4
CSUSB jumped in front from from the start, as senior Tereise Tosi (Garden Grove, Calif.) singled home Mia Escujuri (Chino Hills, Calif.) in the top of the first to give the Yotes an early 1-0 edge.
It was deja vu all over again in the top of the third, when the Coyotes extended their lead to two on a Tosi RBI double, again plating Escujuri.
Colorado State Pueblo struck for four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 edge, but the lead only lasted until the top of the fifth, when the Yotes scored five times to take the lead for good.Â
Tosi started off the rally with her third run-scoring hit in as many at-bats to trim the deficit to one, before freshman Iliana Mejia (Beaumont, Calif.) put Cal State San Bernardino on top with a two-run single to center. The Yotes added insurance runs on RBI hits from senior Lindsey Marschall (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and junior Madison Zaro (Chino, Calif.).
Junior Ashley Legler (San Diego, Calif.) got the win in relief for CSUSB, throwing five innings an allowing just one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and zero walks.
Tosi led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Mejia and Marschall each notched a pair of hits.

Game 2 - Dominican 8, Cal State San Bernardino 6 (9 innings)
The Coyotes broke the ice in the second game of the day, scoring a single run in the bottom of the first on an Emilie Lapeña (Buena Park, Calif.) RBI single.
The game remained 1-0 until the fourth inning, when the Penguins took their first lead of the day thanks to two runs in the top of the frame. CSUSB answered right away however, reclaiming the lead on a two-run double from Escujuri. An inning later, Mejia expanded on the Coyote advantage with a two-run double to stretch the lead to 5-2.Â
Dominican scored twice in the top of the sixth, and knotted the score at 5-5 with a two-out solo home run to force extra innings.
The Penguins took the lead with a run in the top of the eighth, but Escujuri's second RBI double of the game drew the game back to even. The Yotes had the bases loaded with only one out in the frame, but could not get the big hit they were looking for, and the game headed to a ninth inning. CSUSB conceded a pair of runs in the top of the ninth, and went down 1-2-3 in the bottom as the Penguins secured the come-from-behind win.
CSUSB outhit Dominican 13-12 in the defeat, with Lapeña leading the way with three hits, a run scored, and an RBI. Mejia, Tosi, and senior Bri Goris (Chino, Calif.) each notched a pair of hits in the loss.

Next up for the Coyotes, they will wrap up play at the Concordia Kickoff Classic on Sunday morning when they take on reigning national runner-up #2 Western Washington. First pitch is slated for 8:30 a.m.
