Women's Volleyball Takes Down Cal Poly Humboldt for Fifth Straight Win

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's volleyball team swept Cal Poly Humboldt Saturday night in a CCAA contest on Kim Cherniss Court at Coussoulis Arena. Set scores were 25-15, 25-18, and 25-19.

With the win, the Coyotes improve to 18-5 overall on the season and 13-3 in the CCAA.

The Lumberjacks led early in set one at 4-3, but the Coyotes went on a 9-1 run to take a 12-5 lead and never looked back to take the 1-0 edge. The Yotes swung .394 in the set, paced by five kills on no errors from junior Kacie Pedersen (Riverside, Calif.).

The second set featured five ties and four lead changes, but the Coyotes pulled away late to go ahead 2-0. Pedersen again looked sharp in the set, this time posting nine kills with only one error on 15 swings, while Allison Legates (Los Altos, Calif.) and Kisa Sagiao (San Diego, Calif.) each had three. For the set, the Coyotes hit .433.

The Coyotes worked around seven third set attack errors to close out their third consecutive sweep. None of those attack errors came from redshirt senior Savannah Hoffmann (Rialto, Calif.), who had five kills, while Pedersen had six and Sagiao four.

For the match, Pedersen led all players with 20 kills, with an attack percentage of .390. Sagiao just missed double figures with nine kills, while Hoffmann had eight and Legates had six. Legates also added a team-high five blocks (one solo), while McKenna Edwards (Santa Clarita, Calif.) dished out 37 assists.

Next up for the Coyotes, they will host Cal State Monterey Bay for Senior Night on Friday at Kim Cherniss Court at Coussoulis Arena. First serve is slated for 5 p.m.
