CARSON, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's soccer has punched its ticket to the CCAA Tournament after drawing with #10 Cal State Dominguez Hills 0-0 Sunday evening at Toro Stadium.
With the win, the Coyotes move to 8-3-6 overall and 3-2-4 in the CCAA. By clinching the postseason berth, Cal State San Bernardino becomes the first school in the CCAA to clinch tournament berths in each the men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball conference tournaments.
The first half was tight, as the Yotes outshot Cal State Dominguez Hills 7-6, but Dominguez Hills held a 2-1 edge in corners. CSUSB redshirt junior goalkeeper Donovan Palomares (Boyle Heights, Calif.) turned aside both shots on target in the opening 45 minutes to keep the game deadlocked.
The Coyotes did not even concede a shot on goal to the Toros in the second half, and the game finished in a scoreless tie. CSUSB held a 5-2 advantage in shots, and the Toros failed to land a shot on target despite six second half corner kicks.
Next up for the Coyotes, they will play Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday in the regular season finale at Premier Field. Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m.
