ARCATA, Calif. - The California State University San Bernadino women's volleyball team pulled off its second sweep in as many matches Saturday afternoon, taking down Cal Poly Humboldt in CCAA action at Lumberjack Arena. Set scores were 25-21, 25-18, and 25-13.
With the victory, the Coyotes improve to 11-4 overall on the season and 6-2 in conference play.
Set one was the tightest of the afternoon, featuring 11 ties and seven lead changes, but the Yotes still came out on top. Junior
Kacie Pedersen (Riverside, Calif.) set the pace for the Coyotes with seven kills in the set, while
Kisa Sagiao (San Diego, Calif.) and
Savannah Hoffmann (Rialto, Calif.) each had four. The trio combined for 15 of Cal State San Bernardino's 17 first set kills.
The Coyotes took command of the match with a dominant set two performance. The first half of the set was close, but a 9-3 run late in the set gave the Coyotes an insurmountable 22-15 edge, and moments later a kill from
McKenna Edwards (Santa Clarita, Calif.) clinched the set for the visitors. In the set, six different Yotes recorded kills, led by four from Hoffmann.
The Yotes never trailed in set three to cruise to the sweep. They led by as many as 13 in the set, and had only two attack errors with an attack percentage of .367.
Hoffmann and Pedersen tied for the match-high with 12 kills apiece, while Edwards dished out 30 assists. Pedersen had the contest's only double-double as she also contributed 10 digs, with senior
Jordan Cherniss (Colton, Calif.) posting 10 digs of her own.Â
The Yotes will return to San Bernardino on Friday, taking on San Francisco State at
Kim Cherniss Court at Coussoulis Arena at 5 p.m.
