SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's cross country team finished in 10th place out of 19 teams Saturday morning at the 6k Cougar Challenge, hosted by Cal State San Marcos.
For the third time in as many races this season, freshman
Gabriella Romero (Highland, Calif.) was the top Coyote finisher. She placed 12th overall in the 157-runner field with a time of 22:06.4
Junior
Kai Marroquin (Rosemead, Calif.) was CSUSB's second highest finisher, crossing the line in 32nd place. She ran a time of 22:35.6. In third for the Yotes was sophomore
Hailey Lynk (Banning, Calif.), the race's 52nd place finisher at 23:06.9. Both times were over 30 seconds faster than their previous collegiate highs in the 6k.
CSUSB's fourth finisher was sophomore
Jordan Dennert (San Bernardino, Calif.). She placed 79th overall with a run of 23:43.0. She was followed closely by teammate
Samantha Avila (Menifee, Calif.) who placed 85th at 23:52.7.
Rounding out CSUSB's scorers were freshman
Angela Torres (Rialto, Calif.) at 23:57.7 to place 88th and junior
Lidia Barrios (Perris, Calif.), who placed 100th at 24:13.9.
Next up for the Coyotes, they will return to UC Riverside for the Highlander Invitational on October 19. The race is slated to begin at 8:40 a.m.
