SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's soccer team played Colorado State Pueblo to a 1-1 draw in a non-conference contest Friday afternoon at Premier Field.
With the draw, the Coyotes move to 0-1-2 overall on the season.
The only goal of the first half came off a Colorado State Pueblo boot, as Abby Menk connected for her first goal of the season in the 39th minute to give the Thunderwolves the 1-0 advantage just before the halftime whistle.
The Coyotes controlled the play the entire second half, and finally got their breakthrough right before the hour mark.
Freshman defender Sakiah Williams (San Bernardino, Calif.) knotted the score in the 60th minute by choosing a key time for her first collegiate goal. The rookie headed home a corner from classmate Reagan Parkhill (San Dimas, Calif.) to tie the score at 1-1 as the ball went through the outstretched hands of Thunderwolves keeper Jackie Dominguez.
CSUSB continued to pepper the Pueblo goal in the remaining half hour of the contest, but could not find the game-winner. The Yotes outshot the Thunderwolves 11-2 in the second half, and led the shots on goal count by a margin of 6-1.
In goal, CSUSB senior Leila Peregrina (Chino, Calif.) turned aside three shots to earn the draw for the Coyotes.
Next up for the Yotes, they'll start a brief two-game road trip on Monday with a contest at Fresno Pacific. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
