SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino softball team swept a CCAA doubleheader against Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday afternoon at the CSUSB Softball Park.
San Bernardino prevailed game one 9-1 in five innings in game one, before defeating the Otters 5-0 in game two.
With the victories, the Coyotes improve to 25-17 overall and 17-12 in the CCAA.
Prior to game one, the Cal State San Bernardino Department of Athletics honored the three members of its softball senior class prior to their final doubleheader at the CSUSB Softball Park. Natalie Carlos (Garden Grove, Calif.), Samantha Vargas (Grand Terrace, Calif.), and Hayden Greene (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) were joined on the field by their friends and family for the special pregame ceremony.

Game 1 - Cal State San Bernardino 9, Cal State Monterey Bay 1 (5 Innings)
The Yotes took the lead right away in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly from junior Bri Goris (Chino, Calif.), plating classmate Emilie Lapeña (Buena Park, Calif) from third base.
In the third, CSUSB tacked on three more to take a 4-0 lead. Shannon Galliano (San Mateo, Calif.) scored on a Monterey Bay throwing error to put CSUSB ahead by a pair, before Bri Goris (Chino, Calif.) connected for her third home run of the weekend, a two-run shot, putting the Yotes up by four.
A Galliano RBI single and Goris bases-loaded walk in the fourth put the Coyotes ahead 6-0.Â
The Otters plated their lone run of the contest in the top of the fifth, but Cal State San Bernardino responded with three in the bottom of the frame to seal the contest. Galliano brought home a pair of runs on a base hit up the middle, before Lapeña walked it off with a single to right center.
Carlos earned the win in the circle for CSUSB. She allowed only the one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts for her eighth victory of the season. A strikeout looking in the top of the first was the 100th of her collegiate career.
Galliano and Lapeña each notched three hits in the top two spots in the lineup for San Bernardino. In the seven spot, sophomore Mia Escujuri (Chino Hills, Calif.) went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
Game 2 - Cal State San Bernardino 5, Cal State Monterey Bay 0
Goris picked up right where she left off in the second half of the twin bill, belting a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to give the Yotes an early 3-0 advantage.
CSUSB added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-run single through the right side from Greene, putting the Yotes ahead 5-0, a score that would hold up as the final.
Vargas dazzled for CSUSB in her Senior Day start, hurling seven shutout innings and allowing just four hits. She struck out four to improve to 11-7 on the season.
Lapeña paced the Coyotes offensively, notching three of her team's seven hits. Goris notched the three-run homer in the first, and was intentionally walked in her following two at bats.
The Yotes will play their final regular season home game on Sunday at the CSUSB Softball Park, hosting a single rescheduled contest against Stanislaus State on Sunday at 11 a.m.
