SAN MARCOS, Calif. - California State University San Bernardino women's basketball senior
Destiny Jackson (Hayward, Calif.) reached 1,000 career points on Saturday afternoon, but the Coyotes fell to Cal State San Marcos 69-64 in CCAA action at the Sports Center.
With the defeat, the Yotes fall to 9-11 overall on the season, and 7-8 in the CCAA.
Jackson started the afternoon just 12 points shy of 1,000 points, and hit the milestone on a jumper late in the third quarter. She finished the contest as the game's leading scorer with 19 points, and now sits at 1,007 NCAA points, with 969 in three seasons at CSUSB, and 38 at Monmouth University.
CSUSB came out of the gate hot, outscoring San Marcos 18-12 in the opening quarter to take the early advantage. Four different Yotes had four points each in a balanced first period attack.
The Cougars climbed back into the contest by outpacing San Bernardino 21-13 in the second to carry a narrow 33-31 lead to the locker room.
Junior
Jaida Jackson (Moreno Valley, Calif.) notched seven points on 3-for-4 shooting in the third quarter and CSUSB outscored San Marcos 19-16 to go to the fourth ahead by a point at 50-49.
The Yotes shot just 30 percent (6-for-20) from the floor in the fourth as San Marcos climbed back to earn the conference victory. Destiny and
Jaida Jackson combined to score 12 of San Bernardino's 14 points in the fourth quarter.

Next up for the Yotes, they will return home to take on Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday evening. Tip-off from Coussoulis Arena is slated for 5:30 p.m.
