Box Score ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Senior guard
Destiny Jackson (Hayward, Calif.) banked home a go-ahead driving layup with 22.2 seconds remaining as the California State University San Bernardino women's basketball team rallied to stun Sonoma State by a final score of 55-52 in CCAA action Thursday night at the Wolves' Den.
With the victory, the Coyotes earn their second straight conference win, improving to 9-10 overall and 7-7 in the league.
Jackson's bucket capped San Bernardino's furious fourth quarter comeback, that saw the Yotes erase a 10-point deficit in the game's final nine minutes. After her team got a stop on the ensuing possession, San Bernardino senior
Auren Isaacson (Chula Vista, Calif.) put the game on ice with a pair of free throws to secure the victory.
Neither team took solid control of the contest in the opening half, but the defenses looked sharp in the low-scoring battle. The Seawolves took a narrow 27-24 lead into the locker room, despite 10 points from junior
Jaida Jackson (Moreno Valley, Calif.) for the Yotes.
Sonoma State slowly began to pull away in the third quarter, outpacing the Coyotes 16-11 to open up a 43-35 lead heading to the final frame. A bucket on the first Seawolves possession of the fourth quarter gave the hosts their largest lead of the game at 45-35, but the lead quickly evaporated as San Bernardino would go on to score 20 of the game's last 27 points to escape with the win.
Destiny Jackson was the game's leading scorer, pouring in 21 points in the win for the Yotes. She now sits just 12 points shy of 1,000 for her collegiate career, split between CSUSB and Monmouth University.Â
Jaida Jackson was the only other Coyote with double figures in the victory, dropping 14 points. Classmate
Mia Dufresne (Torrance, Calif.) finished just a bucket shy of a double-double with eight points and a team-high 10 boards.
CSUSB will return to action on Saturday, facing off with first-place Cal State San Marcos on the road on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
