Women's Volleyball Glides Past Cal State Monterey Bay

SEASIDE, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's volleyball team swept Cal State Monterey Bay 3-0 in CCAA action Friday evening at The Kelp Bed. Set scores were 26-24, 25-19, and 25-22.

With the victory, Cal State San Bernardino improves to 13-9 overall on the season and 9-6 in CCAA play.

The first set went back and forth right to the end, featuring 11 ties and eight lead changes. In the late stages, CSUSB faced a Monterey Bay set point at 24-23, but kills from seniors Ashley Robinson (Tucson, Ariz.) and Savannah Hoffmann (Rialto, Calif.) helped the Yotes climb out of the hole and clinch the set 26-24. Robinson led all players with seven kills in the set.

Cal State San Bernardino won the first eight points of the second set to cruise to a commanding 2-0 lead. Robinson continued to control the play, posting a set-high eight kills for an attack percentage of .353.

Set three tightened back up, but the result was the same as CSUSB clinched the win with a set score of 25-22. Freshman Jaiden Van Horn (Elk Ridge, Utah) dished out a match-high 10 assists in the third and final set, while Robinson led the way once again with seven kills.

Robinson and Hoffmann led the way offensively for CSUSB with 22 and 11 kills respectively in the win. Robinson notched a double-double with 13 digs, matching the team-high with junior libero Abbey Clarke (Oswego, Ill.). Van Horn finished with 25 assists, while senior Kylie Thomas (San Bernardino, Calif.) dished out 15 of her own.

Next up for the Yotes, they will play their final road match of the regular season on Saturday at Cal State East Bay. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
