Bella Cervantes Scores in Final Minute to Lift Women's Soccer Over Sonoma State

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's soccer team picked up a massive three points on Friday afternoon, taking down Sonoma State 1-0 in CCAA action at Premier Field.

With the win, CSUSB improves to 5-5-5 overall on the season and 4-3-2 in CCAA play.

The game remained scoreless all the way until the 90th minute, when junior Bella Cervantes (Anaheim, Calif.) was the hero. Freshman Reagan Parkhill (San Dimas, Calif.) played a ball over the top into space, which was run onto by Cervantes. The Seawolf goalkeeper came out to play the ball, but Cervantes came out and casually tapped it past her and into the net for the game-winning goal.

Sonoma State had a 14-9 advantage in shots in the losing effort, including 10-6 in the second half. The Seawolves led the way in shots on goal at 8-4, but Coyote netminder Leila Peregrina (Chino, Calif.) was up to the task with eight saves in the win, including six in the second half.

The win springboards the Coyotes into fourth place in the CCAA standings.

Next up for CSUSB, they will take on Cal Poly Humboldt at home on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
