SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino women's soccer team defeated San Francisco State 3-0 in California Collegiate Athletic Association action for Sunday afternoon at Premier Field.
With the victory, CSUSB moves to 2-2-4 overall on the season, and 1-0-1 in conference play.
CSUSB scored twice in the contest's first nine minutes to take early control.
Junior Bella Cervantes (Anaheim, Calif.) opened the scoring just 29 seconds into the match, scoring on her own rebound to give the Yotes a 1-0 lead. Freshman Angelyn Pena (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched an assist on the play for her first collegiate point.
Eight minutes later, the Yotes extended their lead to two on a Unieque Solis (San Bernardino, Calif.) penalty kick, taking a 2-0 lead in just the ninth minute.
Junior Emilee Perez (Corona, Calif.) added an unassisted insurance marker in the 83rd minute to secure the 3-0 final score.
CSUSB senior netminder Leila Peregrina (Chino, Calif.) earned the shutout win in goal for the Coyotes, stopping the only shot on goal she faced..
Next up for the Coyotes, they will travel south to Cal State San Marcos on Friday, October 11. Kickoff is slated for 12:30 p.m.
