CARSON, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's soccer team played Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 3-3 draw Thursday evening in CCAA play at Dignity Health Sports Park, home of Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy.
With the draw, CSUSB moves to 4-2-5 overall on the season and 2-1-2 in the CCAA.Â
CSUSB opened the scoring in the 16th minute when senior Hunter George (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished off an Anthony Morales (Orange, Calif.) feed for a 1-0 lead.Â
Senior Brian Castillo (North Hollywood, Calif.) posted a highlight reel goal in the 27th minute to extend CSUSB's advantage to a pair. After a misplay by a Dominguez Hills defender in the center circle, Castillo pounced on a loose ball and fired a shot from beyond midfield that caught the goalkeeper out of position and bounced into the open net to put CSUSB ahead by two.Â
The Toros would net a pair of goals in the waning minutes of the half to knot the score heading to the break.
The Coyotes again took the lead on a 56th minute marker from George, who buried another Morales feed for the go-ahead goal, but the lead would not hold up as Toro Chris Briseno tallied his third of the season in the 81st minute to secure the draw.
Cal State Dominguez Hills outshot CSUSB 24-7 in the contest, but the teams each finished with five shots on goal.Â
In net, CSUSB junior JP Camacho (Norwalk, Calif.) made two saves in 45 minutes to be credited with the draw, taking over the Coyote net after halftime.
The Coyotes will be back in action on Sunday at Premier Field when Cal State Los Angeles comes to town. Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m.
