SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's soccer team took care of Cal State San Marcos 2-1 Friday afternoon in CCAA play at the Cage.
With the win, San Bernardino improves to 4-1-4 overall, and 2-0-1 in CCAA action.
All three goals in the contest came before the halftime whistle.
Junior Reece Kilpin (Sydney, Australia) opened the scoring for the Coyotes with an 18th minute strike. The goal was assisted by sophomore Rafa Fonseca (Fontana, Calif.).
In the 34th minute, CSUSB doubled their lead thanks to a marker from reigning CCAA Offensive Player of the Week Brian Castillo (North Hollywood, Calif.). Kilpin and senior Luis Ortner (Berlin, Germany) each earned assists on Castillo's CCAA-leading eighth goal of the season.
San Marcos got one back in the 40th minute, but could not find the equalizer despite a bevy of second half chances.
The hosts fired seven shots in the final 45 minutes, but could not solve San Bernardino senior goalkeeper Aiden Hanes (Riverside, Calif.), who finished the contest with a pair of stops.
The Yotes will return to action on Sunday morning with an 11:30 a.m. start at Cal State East Bay, looking to remain unbeaten in conference play.
