PUEBLO, Colo. – The CSUSB women's soccer team fell just short to Colorado Mesa on Friday afternoon, losing by a final score of 2-1 and falling to 1-2-0 on the season.
Neither team scored in the first half, despite CMU taking five shots and CSUSB taking two. Both teams' attacks would turn it up a notch in the second half, highlighted by the Mavericks attempting 10 shots in the latter half alone.

st minute,
Nathaly Losada Lucumi scored her second goal of the season to put the Yotes ahead 1-0. CSUSB goalkeeper,
Leila Peregrina, and the CSUSB defense would fend off seven shots to maintain the lead until the 86
th minute. With four minutes to go in the game, a defensive miscue allowed the Mavericks to tie the game at 1-1.
Just 37 seconds later, the Yotes committed a foul inside the 18-yard box, setting up a penalty kick for CMU. Sauvelyne Randel delivered on the PK, putting the Mavericks up 2-1 with only three minutes left in the game. Neither team would get another shot off before the final horn, handing the Yotes their second loss of the season.
