DENVER, Colo. – The #9 ranked CSUSB men's soccer team tied with Regis on Friday night, finishing with a final score of 2-2. The Yotes remain unbeaten to open the season, owning a 2-0-1 record through the first three games.
 
A combined 19 shots were taken in the first half, and surprisingly only one found the back of the net. In just the 4^th minute of the game, Regis capitalized on a breakaway to take a quick 1-0 lead. The score would remain the same for the next 62 minutes of play.
 
In the 66^th minute of the game, Jonathan Mayen put the Yotes on the board with his first goal of the season. Brian Castillo originally attempted a shot that deflected off the keeper, allowing Mayen to collect the rebound and immediately put it in the net for a quick goal.  
 
Six minutes later, Regis retook the lead on a goal by Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit, bringing the score to 2-1. Then in the 78^th minute of the game, the Yotes once again tied it back up when Castillo scored on a penalty kick, his second consecutive game with a goal.
 
The Rangers would attempt three more shots before the final horn, with none being on goal. Goalkeeper Aiden Hanes played all 90 minutes in net, making four saves while allowing the two goals.
 
 
Up Next
The Yotes will face Colorado School of Mines this Sunday, September 10^th, in a 1:30 PM (PST) game. The Orediggers also received votes in the national top 25 poll this week, setting the stage for competitive game later this weekend.
