GOLDEN, Colo. – The CSUSB men's soccer team tied with Colorado School of Mines on Sunday afternoon, taking two ties on their Colorado road trip this weekend. The number nine ranked Yotes now own a 2-0-2 record to start the 2023 season.
Brian Castillo wasted no time scoring in his third consecutive game, netting a goal within the first 45 seconds.
Nicklaus Sullivan earned the assist on the play, his fourth assist and sixth point of the season. In just four games, Castillo has already matched his scoring total from last season at three – ranking second in the entire CCAA.
Later in the first half, redshirt freshman
Daniel Santos scored his first collegiate goal to put the Yotes ahead 2-0 in the 38
th minute. Junior midfielder
Michael Maldonado was credited with the assist, his second of the season.
The Orediggers bounced back in the second half, evening the game at 2-2 after finding the net in both the 66
th and 72
nd minutes. The score would remain tied for the remainder of the game, giving the Yotes their second tie of the road trip and the season.
