SAN BERNARDINO, CA – The CSUSB softball team is headed to the NCAA West Regional, it was announced during the NCAA Division II Selection Show on Monday morning. This will be the first time since 2018 that that 31-20 Yotes are headed to the tournament.
The #5 seeded Yotes open the NCAA tournament this Thursday, May 11
th, against the #4 Nighthawks of Northwest Nazarene (36-15) on the campus of Concordia University Irvine. Should they win that quarterfinal game, they will advance to the semifinals, where they would play the winner of #1 Concordia University Irvine and #8 Biola University. The championship game will be held on Saturday, May 13
th at 12 PM with an if-necessary game following at 2:30 PM. The west region champion will then advance to Super Regionals in a location to be determined.
This is a double-elimination formatted tournament, meaning that if the Yotes lose at any time, they will go down to the elimination bracket where they will have to continue to win, or risk being eliminated from the tournament entirely and ending their season. If they win three straight games, they will advance to Super Regionals. The Super Regionals will take place May 18-19 against the winner of the
second west regional hosted at Sonoma State.
