SAN BERNARINO, Calif. – The CSUSB baseball team completed the sweep against Cal State San Marcos on Sunday afternoon on the back of
Austyn Coleman's deep no-hit bid on the mound. With the win, the No. 5 ranked Yotes improve to a West Region-leading 13-1 on the season and a perfect 12-0 at home. In addition, the Yotes outscored the Cougars 39-19 in the series sweep.
Senior
Austyn Coleman was lights out on the mound, taking a no-hit bid into the eighth inning. Coleman finished with 8.0 innings pitched, four strikeouts, one walk, and one earned run on a career-high 113 pitches. The Fontana native now leads CSUSB with a 4-0 record and ranks third in strikeouts at 19.
Andrick Jones closed out the game in the ninth, striking out one batter while not allowing baserunner.
Per usual, the offense came to play at Fiscalini Field. Both
Daryl Ruiz and
Garrett Macias went deep; Ruiz with his team-leading sixth home run and Macias with his fourth of the season.
Danny Garcia was the lone Yote to collect multiple hits in the game, while
DeShawn Johnson was the only to score multiple runs. Johnson finished the series going 8-for-14 (.571) with nine runs scored, one double, one home run, and three RBI. The Yotes outhit the Cougars eight to two in the game, and 43 to 24 in the series.
