TURLOCK, Calif. – After falling short in extra innings in the series opener on Saturday, the CSUSB baseball team rebounded nicely on Sunday, winning both games of the doubleheader to improve to 15-2 on the season. The Yotes also now own a 6-1 record in CCAA play and are 3-2 on the road.

Game 1: CSUSB 2, STAN 3 (10 innings)
In Saturday's series opener, starting pitcher
Benny Olguin delivered a strong start on the mound for the Yotes, allowing just one earned run in 5.0 innings while fanning six. Olguin has allowed just three earned runs this season, equating to an impressive 1.93 ERA. He also ranks third on the team in strikeouts with 24, while holding opponents to a .232 batting average.

The Yotes and Warriors traded one-run punches throughout the game, neither able to put up a crooked number. CSUSB struck first in the third inning when
Takuto Kataoka scored on an RBI single by
DeShawn Johnson. Later in the fifth,
Daryl Ruiz drove in Johnson on a single to right field – accounting for CSUSB's two runs in the game. Unfortunately for the Yotes, the Warriors tied up the game in the eighth and ultimately walked off in the bottom of the tenth.

Game 2: CSUSB 7, STAN 6
In the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, four different batters collected multiple hits –
Danny Garcia,
Jason Shedlock,
Riley Parker, and Kataoka. The Yotes were able to string together seven runs on 10 hits, many of which came in the middle innings. Catcher
Garrett Macias also scored two runs in the game while hitting a double.

Luke Hempel picked up the win on the mound, striking out six batters in 5.0 innings while allowing four earned runs on 81 pitches.
Dylan Silver and
Josh Sandoval held the lead in the later innings, combining for one earned run, one strikeout, and six hits allowed. Closer
Oscar Rauda came into the game in the eighth and picked up the five-out save. With his fourth save of the season, Rauda inches closer to the all-time saves record with the 17
th of his career. The record currently belongs to Josh Pond, who collected 21 saves from 2011-12. With five more, Rauda will become the all-time program leader.

Game 3: CSUSB 5, STAN 0 (7 innings)
In the second game of the doubleheader,
Dylan O'Connor delivered his best performance since joining the Yotes' pitching staff. The junior tossed a complete game shutout, throwing all 7.0 innings while striking out nine and only allowing two hits and two walks. O'Connor now leads both the team and the CCAA in strikeouts with 38 on the season.

At the plate, the game belonged to
Giovanni Del Negro. In his final two at-bats of the game, Del Negro drove in all five runners for CSUSB on a two run double and a three-run home run – both giving the Yotes the lead as well as some much-needed insurance runs.
