Visting Cal Poly Pomona and host Cal State San Bernardino will both be looking to get their CCAA conference records back over .500 when they meet at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec 31, in Coussoulis Arena on the CSUSB campus.

The Broncos (2-2) have fared better since the season started, going 6-3 before the holiday break while the Yotes are 4-5, having lost to then regional No. 1 Western Washington at home 77-59 on Dec. 18.

The Yotes (2-2) will be trying to break a string of 13 straight losses to the Broncos dating back to the 2015-16 season. The last CSUSB win was a 68-60 decision on Jan. 1, 2016. CSUSB has won just five times in the last 29 meetings of the two teams.

th of 12 teams in the conference in offensive production, averaging 64.3 points a game. Defensively, the team is ranked fifth, giving up the same 64.3 points a game.

Destiny Jackson leads the Yotes and ranks No. 3 in the CCAA in scoring at 17.5 points per game and No. 3 in field goal percentage (45.8), and No. 2 in steals with 22.

Cal Poly Pomona, coached by Danielle Bishop in her 13
th season, has achieved  a 226-122 record as the Broncos head coach heading into this season. The Broncos are coming off an 18-11 season in 2022-23.

Thus far, the Broncos have a well-balanced offense with five players averaging in double figures led by promising freshman Sydney Nelson (Roosevelt HS/Eastvale), who has averaged 12.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and made 14 steals. Kalaya Buggs has averaging 12.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg with a team-leading 36 assists. Jeanette Fine is averaging 12.0 ppg, 6.0 rebounds a game with five blocked shots.

Brianne Ha, a senior, is averaging 11.8 points per game with 18 steals and a team-leading 24 three-pointers. Andrea Stajic, a sophomore, is averaging 10.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and has four blocked shots to her credit.

The Broncos rank No. 1 in the CCAA in scoring (76.2 ppg) and No. 2 in defense (61.6 ppg) and No. 1 in point-differential (14.7) despite conference defeats at the hands of Cal State East Bay and Cal Poly Humboldt.
GAMES NOTES – There are no CCAA teams listed in the Women's Basketball Coaches Assn. (WBCA) national top 25 poll and only Montana State Billings, Western Washington and Azusa Pacific are ranked in the D2CSC media poll…..the D2CSC West Region poll has CCAA members Cal State San Marcos (6-3) No. 5; Sonoma State (7-2) No. 7; Stanislaus State (9-5) at No. 9 and Cal State L.A. (5-4) at No. 10. Cal Poly Pomona just missed with three votes….The Broncos lead the all-time series against the Yotes 47-16, dating back to their first meeting on Jan. 24, 1992, CSUSB's first season in the CCAA.
