SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Yotes finish their road trip with a loss in San Marcos, CA, in a game that came down to the wire. Their overall record against the Cougars is now 3-9, with seven of their last meetings going in favor of the Cougars.
The Yotes trailed behind the Cal State San Marcos Cougars most of the game but came alive in the third when
Jaida Jackson scored in the paint to bring the Yotes within three. A last-minute drive wasn't enough, and two made free throws by the Cougars made the final score 78-81. Â
In an impressive performance,
Destiny Jackson put up a career-high 33 points in the loss against the Cougars, a big difference from the 10 points she contributed on Thursday versus Cal State LA. Jackson was 12-15 from the field and had eight defensive rebounds on the night.
Jaida Jackson had 16 points of her own to go with three steals and four rebounds. This was the second-highest scoring game this year for the redshirt sophomore from Moreno Valley, only trailing her season-high by one point.
Mia Dufresne was one rebound away from her second double-double for the weekend, stemming from a 14 point and 15 rebound night at Cal State LA. Dufresne leads the team in both offensive and defensive rebounds and she added nine more to that tally on Saturday night to give her a total of 130 on the season. She went 6-8 from the field for 12 points and two blocks.
